For a long time, I couldn’t.
When I was younger, I wasn’t able to truly feel what I wanted or needed in the moment. I couldn’t always sense my real boundaries or desires when I was with someone. Let alone express them.
Through embodiment practices, I started to notice this — and slowly found my way back to myself, to my body, to my own truth.
So here are some little tricks
that can help you remember you:
♥️ When you’re with someone,
feel your feet on the ground.
Stay aware of both — your feet and the other person.
♥️ Or feel your back against the chair.
Stay with that feeling,
while you’re connecting with someone else.
♥️ Wear a special necklace, mala or bracelet.
It can be nice to have something visually with you,
to remember you of yourself.
♥️ Stay aware of your breath, or do little check-ins with yourself,
How am I breathing? How am I feeling? Is my body relaxed or tense?
It’s been a beautiful lesson, and I still keep on learning, to take moments to check in with myself, observe my breath, observe my body and the feelings within me. To see if I’m still truthful to myself.
Because how can you truly meet another if you don’t even know how to meet yourself?
You can only meet the other person as deep as you’ve met yourself.
This is the art of connection, feeling another without losing yourself.
How do you stay anchored within youself?
